Testimonial: Young Women Master Tailoring

Rose Busolo and Miriam Njoki are proud graduates of Phase 1 of the Young Women Master Tailoring Project, which ended on August 29, 2024. This life-changing program taught them valuable tailoring skills and opened up new opportunities for them. After completing the program, their community members came together to help them get sewing machines and a training room.

Today, Rose and Miriam are successful entrepreneurs, creating school uniforms and other clothing for their local community. They have also started selling charcoal, fruits, and vegetables to earn extra income. This additional money helps them buy important tailoring materials, keeping their business sustainable.

Miriam expressed her happiness, saying, “We told our friends and church members about our tailoring work, and they are now placing orders with us.” This response has encouraged them and helped them build strong connections in the community, increasing their visibility and trust.

Rose shared her thoughts as well: “We are grateful for the skills we received from Kalyet Afya Foundation. We believe that by the end of 2025, our business will grow. We look forward to buying more materials to offer a wider range of options for community members and serve all the schools in the area.”

As an organization, Kalyet Afya Foundation is inspired by their determination and success. We believe that Rose and Miriam will achieve their dream of expanding their business and serving the broader community. With their skills, resilience, and the support they have, they are ready to continue making a positive impact. Their success story shows how powerful skill-building programs can be. We encourage others to support initiatives that empower women and promote sustainable development.
