Young Adult Empowerment Initiatives

The Young Adult Empowerment Initiatives (YAEI) was started with an aim of building operational capabilities of refugee youth and women in order to participate in sustainable communities, socio-economic developments and peaceful co-existence. We achieve this through community peacebuilding, skills development (education and vocational services), and access to healthcare and nutritious food. We firmly believe that the economic empowerment of refugees and grassroots communities can potentially unlock opportunities for self-reliance and peaceful co-existence. When given real opportunities, youth and women can champion economic development and peace in their communities.

Our co-founders – who are refugees firmly believe that the economic empowerment of refugees and host communities can potentially unlock opportunities for self-reliance and peaceful co-existence. When given real opportunities, youth and women cannot only champion in the long terms, economic development but also peace in their communities.

YAEI builds operational capabilities of refugee youth and women in order to participate in sustainable communities’ socio-economic development and peaceful co-existence through community peace-building, skills development, (education and vocational services), and providing access to healthcare and nutritious food.

YAEI is run by 3 highly competent Board of directors with a wealth of experience in local and international development and peace building. This is coupled by an industrious team of 3 managers with finance, development, rural innovation expertise enabling them to oversee the operational activities.

YAEI

Past results

In the past two years we directly reached 7,000 youth and women with vocational skills development and financial literacy, creating employment opportunities for both refugees and their host communities. Organised and active refugee women and youth economic groups get supported with small seed capitals and connected to more external funding for their start-ups.

Indirectly we reached about 11,000 refugee youth, women and host communities. Benefits for them are reduced ethnic tensions due to our peacebuilding coupled with skill development opportunities for refugee youth that engage them proactively.

Longer-term, refugee women and host communities’ standards of living improved through economic activities that generate incomes

Cost effectiveness

On average €1.50 per person.
