Our Strategic Blueprint for Sustainable Water Security through Mechanised Borehole Drilling

  1. Our Marketing Strategy

We will partner with the local radio station to broadcast information about the project. This will include benefits of the safe water source and  community contributions. This approach will not only raise awareness but also foster a sense of community involvement and support.

  1. We will create easy-to-read banners, flyers or posters to share project information. Distribute them in common areas or during community events.
  2. Word of mouth: We will encourage residents to talk to their friends and family about our services. Personal recommendations have proven to be very effective.
  3. Local Partnerships: Team up with churches and schools to share information about our water, sanitation and hygiene services. This can help us reach more residents without spending money.

By using these simple and low-cost strategies, we aim to effectively promote our water services and increase access for all residents in the community.

  1. Maintenance and Financing Plans

To ensure the ongoing maintenance and sustainability of the water project, we will implement the following strategies:

  1. Funding Sources:

The primary source of funding for maintenance will be the revenue generated from the sale of water. A portion of the profits will be allocated for maintenance and operational costs. This ensures that we have a steady stream of income to support ongoing upkeep. A small percentage of the sales revenue will be set aside in an emergency fund for unexpected repairs, ensuring we are prepared for any unforeseen issues.

  1. Local Workforce:

We will employ the Young Solar Professional graduates who are trained to assist with maintenance. This not only provides job opportunities within the community but also integrates renewable energy solutions for maintaining the water system, reducing long-term costs.

  1. Scheduled Maintenance:

We will establish a regular maintenance schedule to ensure all equipment functions effectively and efficiently, addressing potential issues before they become major problems  and avoid total shut down. This proactive approach will help in preserving the longevity of the project.

By combining these funding and management strategies, we aim to ensure the project’s maintenance is sustainable and effective, contributing to the long-term success of the water initiative in the community.

  1. Organizational Structure Post-Startup

Following the startup phase, the project will transition to community management to ensure sustainability and effective oversight of the water system. The organizational structure will be as follows:

  1. District Assembly Oversight:

The District Assembly will provide overarching oversight for the project. They will ensure compliance with local regulations and support the community in managing the water system.

  1. Community Governance:

The Local chiefs will play a key advisory role, guiding decision-making processes and ensuring that the project aligns with community values and needs.

The elected local assembly member will represent the interests of the community within the District Assembly and ensure that local concerns are communicated effectively.

  1. Water Sanitation Committee (WSC):

A Water Sanitation Committee will be established, composed of community members. This committee will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the water system, including maintenance schedules, financial management, and community engagement. Members will be trained to handle basic operational tasks and issues that arise.

  1. Support from Pinasol Foundation:

Pinasol Foundation will provide ongoing support as needed for technical training, financial guidance, and operational issues. Their involvement will be on a consultative basis, ensuring the community is empowered to manage the project independently over time.

  1. Regular Reporting and Accountability:

The Water and Sanitation Committee will hold monthly meetings to review operations, address issues, and report to the District Assembly.

An annual review will be conducted to assess the project’s performance and make necessary adjustments, ensuring transparency and accountability.

This organizational structure fosters community ownership, promotes local governance, and enhances the sustainability of the water system while allowing for external support when necessary.
